Seminari Rajonal për Drejtësi Tranzicionale/Regional Seminar on Transitional Justice/Regionalni seminar o tranzicionoj pravdi

22 June 2026

PIPS held the Regional Seminar on Transitional Justice "From Dealing with the Past to Shaping the Future", bringing together young political and civic leaders, media professionals, academics and civil society representatives from Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia for two days of regional dialogue.

Over the course of the seminar, participants explored some of the most pressing questions facing the Western Balkans today: how societies confront competing narratives of the past, how accountability is pursued in politically polarized environments, how missing persons processes can advance truth and justice, and how youth, independent media and gender perspectives are shaping the future of memory and reconciliation.

Through open dialogue and critical exchange, the seminar created space for participants to challenge assumptions, share regional experiences, and build a stronger regional network committed to dealing with the past.

We are grateful to the experts from Kosovo and across the region who led these sessions with insight and courage and to our partner and participants for two days of meaningful and necessary conversations.

The activity is made possible with the assistance of the regional project EU Support to Confidence Building in the Western Balkans, which is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The sessions addressed state capacity, institutional accountability, sustainable development, energy policies, European integration, and digital governance in the age of artificial intelligence. Through the contribution of experts from academia, public institutions, civil society, and the public policy sector, participants reflected on how reforms can be translated into practical and sustainable policies.

The seminar concluded with reflections on the role of leadership, reform, and innovation in strengthening democratic governance in Kosovo.

The School of Politics is supported by the Council of Europe, Demo Finland, and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Kosovo.
