Publication of "International Politics and Political Parties: Perceptions of Kosovo citizens"

On 2nd of April Prishtina Institute for Political Studies published the annual survey “International Politics and Political Parties: Perceptions of Kosovo citizens”.

The survey was published through the support of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS).
The panel of the event consisted of Leonora Kryeziu (PIPS Executive Director), Granit Tërnava (KAS), Arben Hajrullahu (University of Prishtina) and Butrint Berisha (PIPS).

The survey was organized with a sample of 1200 respondents (800 Albanians, 200 Serbs and 200 other minorities) in the 38 municipalities of Kosovo. The questions focused on the perceptions of Kosovo citizens on international politics, the international position of Kosovo, Kosovo's foreign policy and political parties.

The results show that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is clearly the most preferred leader for Kosovars, with 53%, leaving behind US President Donald Trump with 17% and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with 15%.

Further, 55% of citizens estimate that NATO is the organization that has been helping Kosovo most since 1999, leaving behind the EU with 21% and the UN with 12%.

Regarding the popularity of the EU at the moment, 54% of Kosovars estimate that the EU is a friendly organization for Kosovo today, based on its approach and policies towards Kosovo. Meanwhile, about 52% of citizens think that Kosovo is damaged internationally by Serbia's campaign for the withdrawal of recognitions.

There is little positive assessment of the foreign policy and diplomacy of the Republic of Kosovo. Only 3.8% of respondents have chosen "very satisfied" when asked how satisfied they are with the foreign policy and diplomacy of the Republic of Kosovo.

Discussion and publication of the analysis on the second phase of rationalization of agencies and regulators in Kosovo

Discussion and publication of the analysis on the second phase of rationalization of agencies and regulators in Kosovo

25 November 2020

On November 25, PIPS published the analysis on the second phase of rationalization of agencies and regulators in Kosovo. Together with representatives from key institutions involved in this reform - the assembly, the ministry of public administration and the agencies we discussed the opportunities for the second phase.

As part of the political priorities agreed between Kosovo and the EU in 2016, for the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, the implementation of the first phase of this reform has not been completed, and consequently there are delays in the implementation of the second phase, which according to the action plan for the implementation of the whole reform, was intended to be completed by the end of this year.
