Prishtina School for Political Studies holds the first Seminar "State and Society" for the 2019 cohort

During 1-3rd of March, the 17th Generation of School for Political Studies held its first Module State and Society: Identity, Governance and Political Order. The lecturers of the Seminar were: Fatmir Sejdiu, Fisnik Korenica, Ermal Hasimja, Blerim Shala, Anton Vukpalaj, Blendi Ceka, Ramadan Ilazi and Besnik Tahiri. The Seminar focused on the theoretical and practical aspects of state and society, their interaction which created the governance state and international system we currently share, at the same time discussing the transformations during the civilisations and scientific interpretations that have been produced. The Seminar also discussed international law, multilateral institutions, peacebuilding and state-building and political identity, seen from, but not isolated, to Kosovo’s case.
Kosovo’s declaration of independence and its relation to international law was one of the focal points of the discussion. Knowing that Kosovo’s case cannot be fully categorised to none of the three ways of state formation in the post-1945 international order (decolonization, parent state approval or dissolvement of existing states) the sui-generis label has opened the way for full compliance of Kosovo’s declaration of independence with the international law. Based on this, further major interventions in Kosovo’s judicial and political structure would change this argument, thus opening the way for unclear consequences.
