September 2024
The Energy Strategy of the Republic of Kosovo was approved by the Assembly of Kosovo on March 8, 2023.
This Strategy aims to address current challenges and lay the foundations for a future energy sector that will provide security of supply, clean energy, energy efficiency and active citizen participation. The strategy includes the integration of the electricity system of Kosovo in the regional and pan-European market, with special emphasis on the use of renewable energy sources (RE) and close cooperation with the Republic of Albania.
The Republic of Kosovo is at a key point in the development of its energy sector, guided by the Kosovo Energy Strategy 2022-2031. This strategy serves as a framework towards a sustainable, efficient and reliable energy system that supports the country's economic growth and improves the well-being of its citizens. In this context, the monitoring report serves as an essential tool, providing a comprehensive assessment of the progress of the implementation of the strategy for the year 2024 (including the years 2022 and 2023). Therefore, PIPS is continuing to monitor the strategy, and this report is the second part of the monitoring report series, covering all outstanding measures of 2022 and 2023, as well as all measures of 2024.
The report aims to assess achievements and identify challenges during these years of strategy implementation.
The report was made in the framework of the project 'Increasing public accountability in the process of European integration', in cooperation with the FOL Movement, supported by the MATRA program, which is financed by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kosovo. . The monitored measures are the measures from the Kosovo Energy Strategy for the period 2022 and 2023.
