On 30 October, the School for Political Studies hosted Mrs. Flutura Kusari and Mr. Bardh Rugova to discuss legal and sociological aspects of freedom of expression and the phenomenon of "fake news", ahead of this year's World Forum for Democracy on Information and Democracy.
Our guests spoke about:
Freedom of thought, of expression and freedom to disseminate information, through examining various cases of whistle-blowing, access to public documents, protection of reputation and security of journalists; and
The creation of a post-truth environment, with "fake news" as a phenomenon dependent on social conditions; and concepts of journalism as totalitarian, authoritarian, libertarian and that of social responsibility.
