PIPS organized the roundtable ‘Prospects of Kosovo membership to Council of Europe’

The roundtable ‘Prospects of Kosovo membership to Council of Europe’ was held today. The goal of this roundtable was discussing the Kosovo membership to Council of Europe. Present in the roundtable were: Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, ex Foreign Affairs Minister Enver Hoxhaj, Human Rights Expert Gjylieta Mushkolaj and Fisnik Korenica Expert of law.

PIPS Executive Director Leonora Kryeziu on the opening speech emphasized the vital importance of membership in this organization in improving the life of Kosovars. “Kosovo Civil Society supports the Kosovo membership in this organization that would benefiet drastically to Kosovars. The application needs to be submit as soon as possible”.

On the other hand Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga also supported the lobbying process of Prishtina Institute for Political Studies in Kosovo membership to Council of Europe. According to the President, Kosovo membership to CoE is an urgent need in improving the human rights and rule of law in Kosovo.

Ex Minister of Foreign Affairs Enver Hoxhaj spoke about the importance of creating a momentum which would be created as a consequence of a process of lobbying from different sides. According to Hoxha a wide cooperation is demanded prior and after the application submit in order to secure the votes of the member states.

Law Expert Gjylieta Mushkolaj declared that institutions should be careful with the commitments they make knowing that they turn into juridical obligations. Meanwhile Fisnik Korenica who also did the concluding remarks added that Kosovo needs to have a new coordination and momentum in the road to accession in order to be a member of this organization as soon as possible.

OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOOL FOR POLITICAL STUDIES 2021

Prishtina School for Political Studies has opened the call for application for the admission of candidates for the nineteenth generation (19).

School for Political Studies is one of the first non-formal political education programs in Kosovo and the oldest program that is still active. School for Political Studies has been implemented by the Prishtina Institute for Political Studies since 2003 through the support of the Council of Europe.

The aim of the program is to promote a new political culture for young leaders in line with the three key principles of the Council of Europe: democracy, rule of law and human rights. Throughout a year 30 participants coming from political parties, media, civil society, public administration etc. have the opportunity to attend modules with lectures from eminent local and international speakers. The program is currently implemented in 22 different countries around the world and graduates are certified by the Council of Europe and the Secretary General of this organization.
