First seminar of the School for Political Studies 2020

The 18th generation of School for Political Studies today participated in the first seminar on “State and Society: Political Orientation, Governance and Political Order”. ⁣

During the lectures participants had the opportunity to discuss, among others, about: state and governance; the concept of justice as a prelude to the state; statehood as a concept in relation to international law and international relations; representation in government etc; Kosovo’s responsibility to fulfill the reforms of the EU integration process vis-a-vis recent developments in the EU and the implications of enlargement policy; the creation of political systems; the design and dimensions of the political system of the Republic of Kosovo; the legitimacy of the state as a concept and as a practice; state building through international intervention; state building face to face with the idea of the nation in the case of Kosovo, factors that interfere with governance and why states fail.

The seminar concluded with discussions on key topics in Kosovo politics at the moment: Transitional justice, documentation, the situation created so far and what awaits us in relation to war crimes and peace-building; current circumstances and objectives of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process.

Among other things, the participants had the opportunity to meet with Ms. Doris Pack and talk about the challenges that Kosovo and European countries are facing.

On July 7, the Pristina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS) published the policy analysis "Rationalization of Independent Agencies and Regulators in Kosovo". The analysis drafted after a period of several months of research provides an overview of the current situation of public administration reform, namely the implementation of the rationalization of independent, executive and regulatory agencies.

OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOOL FOR POLITICAL STUDIES 2021

Prishtina School for Political Studies has opened the call for application for the admission of candidates for the nineteenth generation (19).

School for Political Studies is one of the first non-formal political education programs in Kosovo and the oldest program that is still active. School for Political Studies has been implemented by the Prishtina Institute for Political Studies since 2003 through the support of the Council of Europe.

The aim of the program is to promote a new political culture for young leaders in line with the three key principles of the Council of Europe: democracy, rule of law and human rights. Throughout a year 30 participants coming from political parties, media, civil society, public administration etc. have the opportunity to attend modules with lectures from eminent local and international speakers. The program is currently implemented in 22 different countries around the world and graduates are certified by the Council of Europe and the Secretary General of this organization.
