"Photography" of the situation of energy use in Kurbin and Suharekë

The kick-off meeting of the project "Pathway towards an efficient use of local natural resources" took place on December 14, 2022 in Kurbin.

The purpose of this activity was to present the findings of the survey conducted over the last 3 months with families and businesses as well as interviews of various local actors in the municipalities of Kurbin and Suhareka with the aim of assessing the situation of energy consumption as well as the awareness of the actors different on "green transition".

Around 30 local authorities participated in this activity from Kurbin and Suharekë, representatives from local institutions, businesses, civil society, and media, as well as representatives from the IPA Joint Technical Secretariat, based in Lezhë.

To achieve the objectives set by our countries in the framework of sustainable development energy, all sectors of society must work together.

The delegation from Suharekë municipality that visited Kurbin for this event were received in a meeting by
the mayor Mrs. Majlinda Cara, who expressed readiness for cooperation and the exchange of the best experiences on both sides of the border.

The activity was welcomed by:
 Mr. Erjon Tase, Executive Director, Academy of Political Studies;
 Mr. Eduart Kurti, vice mayor of Kurbin Municipality;
 Mr. Berat Kabashi, Senior Official of Suhareka Municipality;
 Mrs. Leonora Kryeziu, Executive Director of Prishtina Institute for Political Studies, who emphasized the importance of this project and the commitment of local authorities to it contribute and cooperate in the realization of its objectives.

The presentations of two experts, who assessed the current situation of energy use, Mr. Erind
Kraja and Mr. Avni Sfishta presented a set of recommendations for further intervention
project activities on energy efficiency measures and sustainable energy use in these regions.

Some of the recommendations resulting from the survey were:
• increasing the knowledge and awareness of local government representatives and their factors
other relevant on renewable energy and energy efficiency;
• determination of efficient energy measures in institutions depending on municipalities, but also private businesses;
• Creation of local programs and financial incentives that can be undertaken by the local government to stimulate businesses that use efficient measures and reduce environmental pollution.

This activity helped to identify local actors who will cooperate in the next phase for the implementation of the project in the two cross-border regions. National and local media in both countries followed the activity in order to further promote the objectives to the general public.

implemented by the Academy of Political Studies (ASP), the Prishtina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS), Municipality of Kurbin and Municipality of Suhareka.

On July 7, the Pristina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS) published the policy analysis "Rationalization of Independent Agencies and Regulators in Kosovo". The analysis drafted after a period of several months of research provides an overview of the current situation of public administration reform, namely the implementation of the rationalization of independent, executive and regulatory agencies.

OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOOL FOR POLITICAL STUDIES 2021

Prishtina School for Political Studies has opened the call for application for the admission of candidates for the nineteenth generation (19).

School for Political Studies is one of the first non-formal political education programs in Kosovo and the oldest program that is still active. School for Political Studies has been implemented by the Prishtina Institute for Political Studies since 2003 through the support of the Council of Europe.

The aim of the program is to promote a new political culture for young leaders in line with the three key principles of the Council of Europe: democracy, rule of law and human rights. Throughout a year 30 participants coming from political parties, media, civil society, public administration etc. have the opportunity to attend modules with lectures from eminent local and international speakers. The program is currently implemented in 22 different countries around the world and graduates are certified by the Council of Europe and the Secretary General of this organization.
